The search for extraterrestrial intelligence. Yeah… The universe is just too big for us to be alone.
You can help to find other civilizations by lending your computer when idle. Seti@home is a program
that runs like a screensaver (when your computer is not being used). It analyzes data gathered
from the giant Arecibo radio telescope.
By using the power of many idle computers around the world seti@home can analyze data at a faster rate
than if they were have a supercomputer working for them.
So how do they pay back your effort?
If your computer is involved in the detection, you will be listed as a co-discoverer.
