My 2cents On Being Creative
Practice makes perfect
Creativity, like everything comes with practice; being creative is no exception.
Relax
Breathe slowly, try to clear your head.
Distractions take up bandwidth, get rid of them.
Change the scenery
Leave your desk
Fill the bathtub and take a notebook.
Lie on the floor or on the sofa.
Whatever rocks your boat, just leave the place you usually use to work.
See it
Before you break out the pencil and paper try to focus on the goal you are trying to accomplish.
Visualize it, move it, rotate, add parts and take away.
Solve the problem in your head.
Brain dump
Write down everything. Don’t give it meaning or hierarchy.
Change the view
Turn it upside down, close one eye, squint, view it sideways.
Cross pollinate
Bring knowledge and concepts from other activities into your thought process.
Use themes out of context.
Avoid stimulants, they clutter your thoughts with gibberish.
If all else fails, let it go
Leave, take a walk, read a book chosen by somebody else, or watch that movie you’ve been avoiding.
When you stop pressuring yourself, ideas just pop into your head.
That’s why it’s so important to carry a notebook with you at all times.
Some of the best ideas and concepts have left my head never to come back again.
Write it down!
The most important thing
Break all the rules mentioned above.
