Maxthon vs. Firefox

I was happily using Maxthon for more than a year (it was then known as MyIE2) and suddenly it started giving me trouble with Gmail. Everyone is talking about Firefox, so I download it, use it for two months…

Now for the verdict:

Both browsers have tabbed browsing, pop-up blocking, and plugins.
Trying to set up all this in Firefox can be time consuming… In it’s default form Firefox is too simple. You need to spend time with it in order to get some extensions working. On the other hand Maxthon has all this setup by default. And I’ll tell you: Once you use superdrag and drop and mouse gestures , you can’t live without them (Firefox has them too). I also noticed Maxthon being faster (and yes, I tweaked Firefox a lot). This has probably a lot to do with Maxthon being a shell. It is not a browser…It works on top of IE.

That being said the new version of Maxthon works perfectly with Gmail, and I am happy I am back. Now I can surf the web without having to think about the browser.

Ohhh, and security? After installing SP2 I ran a series of security test and Maxthon scored as well as Firefox. Go get it.
