Lost Faded Memories
Thanks to recording we are losing the green tinted memories we had. Every moment captured for posterity…shit! Did you forget the camera?
It seems to me that most of the things for which I have no photo, video, or other media are cataloged in my head as better. Every time you stop a moment in time with a photo, it sort of loses it’s charm. Re-lived. Been there, done that. With the advent of camera phones, unlimited hard drives, and scarce time, we’ll use less and less our brains way of storing and enhancing our memories. Storytelling which is a very powerful way of conveying experiences is dying fast, and is being replaced by media.
Hey I’m no Luddite! I am just curious of what will happen to millions of years of brain evolution.
Our brains turn everyday occurrences and experiences into complex coded memories… Just try explaining a dream of yours to somebody! Listen to your voice on a video….Do I talk like that?? We have the ability to add details, textures, and other paraphernalia which is not included on the recorded version. All this makes for a richer life experience and a more personal memory.
Don’t push the red button!
