Erwin Hauer Surfaces

I’m currently collaborating in the design of a hotel in Beijing.
We are making a wall inspired by Erwin Hauer inside one of the restaurants.

I read his Continua book and was mesmerized by the complexity and sublime beauty of his work.
I modeled one of his shapes and now I’m totally hooked on continuing a personal research on the subject…

From this simple shape (very similar to his Design No.5) a complex surface can be achieved just by repeating the pattern.
I will post different versions of this as they come up.

I just copied the shape from his Continua book, allowing for some interpretation.
I don’t use Rhino, so I can’t help you with that!
If you have any other questions, just let me know.
