So where is the post about the Salone del Mobile?
Here it goes…
I took about a million pictures of things I though were cool at the moment. Now three days later I can’t remember a single object! There wasn’t a single memorable piece for me. It seemed as if all furniture companies were run by the same art director. Everything looks the same. Most stands had a damask motif throughout and everything is made with shiny lacquered boxes.

Thats it. I’m tired of this. I know all these companies want to play it safe. They wanna sell, they wanna please.They come up with this bland, stylish idea of design. Where is the innovation? The new materials? Research is what made the “Made in Italy” known the world over in the 60′s and 70′s.
Now, everybody is running for the shelter of the short term return. Nobody is investing, and we all know that the best time to invest is during a crisis. Yep, that’s what they were calling it a year ago, a crisis. IKEA and China are taking over!

Survival of the fittest has served humanity well. I hope all these mediocre companies burn, and we can get some people to start thinking about objects in a new way…
Otherwise I’ll have to move to the Netherlands.
