‘les cravates par Hermès’

I participated in ‘les cravates par Hermès’ Designboom competition, or thought I did.
I worked hard for a couple of months to come up with these ideas, but due to a technical glitch my entry did not upload.

I wrote Designboom a couple of emails, but they never answer.
I then tried to spam my way into Hermès’ design team. No luck.

Here are my 3 entrees:

Cut and Paste
Remix the Hermès logo to create new shapes.

Gallop
A horse’s gallop determines the frequency of the lines.

VortexShock
Moving through air and water, we create a vortex that follow us.

These ties now become a part of the designdreams collection.

Bitmat Tables

To create a material that transforms without seams fading from wood to a solid color you need:
a wooden base, a spray gun and lots of sanding.

Criss Cross Low Table

Instead of singing a doorbell rings.

ZAP! Side Tables

ZAP! is a small sidetable that recalls comic explosions.
It could be built using laquered MDF, laser-cut steel, and a tube.

This table is part of the designdreams collection.

Balance Through Unbalance

Imagine a machine whose only goal is to waste energy…
Plugged in, the center heats up and is cooled at the same time by fans that move cooling gas.

Think of it as a slick product that gives the finger to environmentalists.

Trompo Chair

Trompo is an armchair.
blah blah inspired by tops blah
blah probably uncomfortable blah blah

The base could be metal, the top in rotational molded plastic,
lacquered with the shiniest dolphin killing paint.

Lollipop Clocks

As I continue dusting my hard drive, I keep finding good objects:

A small table clock that has a svuota tasche, italian for pocket emptier.
All that is needed:

a ceramic base,
a wooden stick,
and a round clock part made in MDF
with a bronze bezel.

Simple.
Now, let’s produce it.

Long Carousel Lines

This is coat hanger obviously inspired by chair carousels.
I like it’s umcomfortable proportions, and it’s pseudo-old look.

The top could be made in injection molded fake wood. //plastic//
Natural fiber lines, and >bronze< capping both ends.

The hook looks like the pull-string of old outboard engines.
I’ve pulled a few. I like boats.
