An Interview With lorbus

I’ve always had the fantasy of being interviewed…
And since nobody is knocking on my door yet I decided to steal the typical Designboom interview and answer it.

What is the best moment of the day?
Around 5 or 6 in the afternoon when you are happy that you accomplished something…
or if you didn’t do shit it’s too late to start. I avoid working at night.

What kind of music do you listen to at the moment?

Dark ambient, heavy metal, indie, punk and unpopular pop.

Do you listen to the radio?
Never. I hate people choosing for me.

What books do you have on your bedside table?
Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk
Lunar Park by Bret Easton Ellis
48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene

Do you read design magazines?

No, I look at them… I’m thinking of starting a design magazine with images only.
Nobody reads them. It’s a waste of time.

Where do you get news from? newspapers? TV?
From teh internets…

Do you notice how women are dressing?
Yes and men too. I like clothes, but can’t stand fashion.

What kind of clothes do you avoid wearing?

Anything with cartoons or logos.

Do you have any pets?
No. I’m allergic to dogs and cats.

When you were a child, did you want to become a designer?
No, I wanted to be an astronaut… I’d still like to be one!

Where do you work on your designs and projects?

On planes, hotels….blah blah, bullshit.
In my desk, a comfy chair, or the bathtub.

Do you discuss your work with other designers?
Sometimes, nobody wants to hear you toot your own horn.

Please describe your style, as a good friend of yours would describe it.
Aha! Trick question…
Unconventional, unpopular, nice little things.

Which type of project has given you the most satisfaction?
Depends on when you ask me this.
They all had their good moments.

Who would you like to design something for?

Nasa, Moroso, B&B, Apple, and some unknown cool company with intelligent people.

Is there any designer/ architect from the past you appreciate a lot?
Gio’ Ponti for his fantasy.
Achille Castiglioni for his grace.
Bruno Munari for his intellect.

And those still working?
Nobody in particular…
Everything looks good nowadays. It’s all slick and trendy and fashionable.
Design lost it’s soul. Nobody takes risks.

Do yo have any advice for the young?
Do whatever you feel like doing.
Don’t be fake. Don’t sell out.

What are you afraid of regarding the future?
I’m not afraid, it’s just a fact:
Humans are on their way out.
