On/Off Digital Fade

2009/04/21

I used to think that digital media would last forever, now I know better.
Data and files become corrupted over time mimicking the yellowing of paper.

It is not a graceful fade though…
When the collection of errors becomes big enough, the file is rendered useless.

Everything gets old.

The Second Law of Thermodynamics states:
In a system, a process that occurs will tend to increase the total entropy of the universe.

The Best Part of a Project

2009/04/03

These are the steps I keep encountering in any given project.
Sometimes levels repeat themselves, sometimes they are not there at all…

The Wow Moment.
Cool, I got the project.
I see success on the far end.
Did I mention I got the project?

The initial rush powers my days.
Will it be good? Will it work?
No anxiety, just adrenalin concentration.

Hit The Brick Wall.
Strike one. You think you knew it all?

The well.
Unexpected water landing.
You see no future.
I shouldn’t have gotten involved.

The stairs.
Some steps are missing but a way up is evident.

The Summit.
I finally made it; wrong:
If you climb a mountain you still have to come back down.

Reality is actually quite good.
Not the best, but definitely worth the effort.
Oh! Finally finished.

The Goal.
I couldn’t quite reach the heights I envisioned, but I got pretty close.

The best part is usually just after the brick wall.
A place where you can almost see the goal, and every discovery takes me higher.

Turbulence for Canon

2009/04/02

Click on the HD is off button and watch it in HiDef.

People rarely re-see the videos they record, Turbulence is designed to have you interact with what you’ve filmed.

The project was developed for Canon/Setsu Ito more than a year ago.
I’m very proud of it and I don’t want to see it die in my hard drive.
Plus I never heard back from them so here it is.

Post a comment if you have any questions , and I will be happy to respond.
Oh, and if you like the music: it’s here.
