Space Flowers
If only the Spaceblooms were flying now…
BRB
Today we are leaving for the mountain. 5 days of snowboarding in Madesimo. May the force be with all of you next year. Thanx for reading and for making it worthwhile. Happy Holidays. See you in a few days. Go through the archives or something…
To Be Or Not To Be
To most people the weather boils down to a simple question: Do I need a Jacket?
Inventor’s Paradise

Steve form Metropolis Tokyo Mag sends this excellent article on Chindogu, the creation of unuseless objects. Thanks!
I completely recommend the books written by the master Kenji Kawakami:
101 Unuseless Japanese Inventions: The Art of Chindogu
99 More Unuseless Japanese Inventions: The Art of Chindogu
Easy Curve
Two months ago I read The Long Tail, a great article in Wired mag. The piece turned out to be so good, the writer, one Chris Anderson, got a blog and a book in the works…
Pain!
Take a great game like Max Payne 2, blast people around to get the right look of the blood on the floor, take screen caps of all this and call it art. The White Room. Duchamp would be proud.
Peace Brother
For the modern hippie in all of us: The redesign of the legendary VW Westfalia.
Nooks and Crannies
I’ve been thinking of witty things to say about Earth Erotica, but nothing springs to mind. They are just lovely to behold; SFW if a geologist.
More Than Meets The Eye
I’ve seen the Asimo the Honda robot walk a million times… Cool, but I just kept thinking about the engineering inside. Nothing prepared me for “the run”. Running makes it more human…
Electricity of the Gods
The other day I was looking for a way to destroy CDRs that did not involve pliers…I once saw that you could microwave them. After a bit of research I found the necessary info and proceeded to try it. I put the CD on the glass plate, and turned the timer on. After 2 or 3 seconds of nothing a blue bolt made me jump back while hyperventilating. The CD was completely destroyed rendering it useless. Perfect. Looking for more microwave experiments I came upon “The Plasma Grape”. Haven’t tried it yet, but now I know more or less what to expect.
On another note:
How do you destroy your CDRs?
Media Overload
Rootburn writes just what I was thinking. He even coins a word for it: Digital Photo Effect…
Too much of a good thing?
F++K
Sam from the UK sends this video which serves as perfect accompaniament to the Winnebago Man. Not that fantastic really, but it helps get your juice going before the morning coffee. NSFW. Lotsa swearing.
No Shit!
I have seen the future and it involves saving time on your daily commute:
Shit while driving to work in a turbine powered PortaPotty.
Measuring
Mesu Dishes are quite nice, but I’d use them as measuring cups, not a weight watching gimmick.
Its Just Physics

Nothing like some good ol’ Crane Accidents to get you started on this Tuesday morning. Take me straight to the galleries.
Color George
Miniature paintings on dollar bills.
Electro Nightmare
Great example of something thats so bad its good. Zlad.
Dusty Cards
Postcards From The Attic. Cool Collection.
Paper Hack
During WWII the Germans used the Enigma machine to code their radio messages… It was a very clever machine and very hard to break. A team of mathematicians led by Alan Turing finally conquered the code gaining an ear into the complex radio communications. The Enigma was top-secret for a long time, but now you can build your own with a printer. Behold the Paper Enigma Machine! Just wish I could pop in a time machine and send one to the Bletchley Park team.
Frequent Flyer
Pablo sent this video of Danny Way setting a world record skate jump. Pretty impressive, though there are snowboarders jumping twice as much; and yes falling on snow doing 80 Kph is like hitting concrete.
Ahhhhhh Tahhhhhhh
Now I know where horror movie music makers got their inspiration: Whale songs.
Burning Rubber
What’s the easiest way to become roadkill? Why the Easy Glider of course! Looking like a cross between a Hoover and Riot Wheel, you can glide effortlessly to your destination.
Boooooom

In this day and age of terrorism one needs to know how to defend thyself. Enter Fun with Lighters, with detailed descriptions of how to turn lighters into Weapons of Mass Fun.
Look Ma No Hands!

I hate using an umbrella for obvious reasons; I like to have free hands. Now a Japanese company whose name and info I can’t read has made the ultimate invention: The hands-free umbrella.
Update: Steve from Tokyo has sent some useful information… The products name in english is Katabrella. “Kata” is Japanese for “shoulder.” Link to the english site.
Red, White and Blue
Want to see what they don’t show you in the evening news about Iraq? Fallujah in Pictures blogs about the pictures they don’t show anywhere else… It makes all this war bullshit appear like it is: crude, vicious, and without merit. Warning strong graphic content.
Marmalade Skies

Mark McCloud has what is probably the largest collection of LSD blotter art in the world. A selection of his images turned into posters are available at the store. Take a trip to his website and enjoy the different blotters.
Free Fiona 2
Back in June I posted about Fiona Apple’s new record Extraordinary Machine being shelved, while deemed too uncommercial by Sony. There is a grassroots effort evolving: Free Fiona!
Here is a mirror of one of the songs, enjoy, before Sony comes after me! (they never did the first time)
