Remember the SETI screensaver, where everyone’s screensaver is used to search or extra terrestrial life? Well the guys at Lycos had a good idea: They’ve created a screensaver that spams spammer websites. What’s the idea? To shut them down with worthless traffic. Man, that slogan sucks.

This is one of those things where everything seems pretty simple, but in reality it is excruciatingly difficult to calculate. The Gallery of Fluid Dynamics.

I thought I had posted this long ago, but I didn’t. The ever good-linker Waxy posted it two days ago and reminded me how good these images are. Variations, is a collection of CG images of the same objects each renderd in a different style and illumination. Pretty cool if you ask me!

Talk about a nice car; all bare, only essentials. The Ariel Atom is a single seater with two places. Shit, my Clio sucks.

While in Saint Etienne one of the things that caught my eye was Vincent Ackermann’s work. I wanted every single piece he was exhibiting… I felt my every fetish answered.

If you are kinda bored today why not just go and fire some shots? Live-Shot allows to shoot real fucking live ammo through the magic of what we call the internet. Aim and shoot. By the way they are planning a hunting version where you’d kill some animals. Can’t wait for the Cops version.

The Segway has very cool technology, but nothing can be done to shake its dorky stigma. Now they are developing the Centaur, a four wheeled “fun” vehicle… I thought it was the same but with more wheels…Then I saw the video, I changed my mind.
I noticed the possibilities (note to Segway): give it to some badass-tattoed-rap-listening-kids on a vert and sponsor the Xgames. Then everyone will want one.

Sometimes tying shoes one way isn’t enough. Ian’s Shoelace site is just what I needed back in 1984 when I was trying to do the lattice on my Converse All-Stars.

Today is a happy day for me… I am finally a member of Metafilter, quite possibly the best site there is. I’ve been reading it for a while and their signups have been closed for two years! Yesterday Waxy posted that it was open, and I ran to their signup like a madman. Oh, and by the way AskMefi is an excellent resource for Q&As.

Finally, someone has come up with something that handles like a snowboard in the asphalt. The Freebord. I am dying to try one! By the way I think the Earthflyer guy would have more fun with one.

If you like optical illusions then this is for you. This one is so good it made me print and cut at 10PM on a Sunday. The little dragon follows you around the room while twisting it’s head… Very, very cool.

Last weekend we (Mitla, Philippe, Fabrizia and I) visited the Biennale du design in Saint Etienne. A very nice three days filled with design…
The highlight of the trip was a visit to the now closed Site Couriot carbon mine. They turned the mine into a museum complete with a trip down the pit, which was awesome. You got to admire the conditions these people worked in. Danger awaited behind every single stone moved… On the way out there was a long hallway with a series of posters urging miners to be aware. The photos were taken by Philippe and I fixed them up a little for your enjoyment. Click for HiRes.

Most of you out there have probably heard of this before: If you sync The Wizard of Oz to Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon you get amazing coincidences. I remember a few years back trying to get this to work at a friends house…Hmmm, can’t remember if it worked though.
