As a big fan of optical illusions I’d say it doesn’t get any better than this. Shroom-free tripping with a spiral…

Reverse Madness

2004/05/25

Musicians sometimes hide messages in their music that come out when played backwards. Called back-masking, it is probably a load of shit, but fun nonetheless. Stairway to Heaven is by far the best, and I should say that I like it better than the original…Britney not wanting to be left behind hid some nasty lyrics in there as well. TalkBackwards offers an online service where they reverse any audio file you upload…So go and find the satanic messages your favorite band has to offer!

Breaking The Code

2004/05/22

Kryptos is the name of a sculpture located in CIA’s Headquarters since 1990. It has a code consisting of approximately 2,000 alphabetic letters. The first 3 parts were broken and the last 97 letters remain uncracked…and the artist won’t say a thing. Elonka has a huge amount of info on it, go there and see if you can crack this enigma….by the way the CIA and the National Security Agency have had no luck so far…

The Valley 2

Here is the view towards the north…Ahhh..even better!
One of the best things about Caracas is the Avila. It’s highest point is 2.765 mts, and its a trekking paradise. (I once climbed the 2.640 mts to the Pico Oriental)!
On top of one of it’s peaks theres the Hotel Humboldt, with a lavish 1950’s International Style interior. You can get there by taking cable-car. The view is simply breathtaking as you can both see Caracas on one side and the Caribbean sea on the other.

Fast Car

2004/05/20

This is a cart used for pulling airplanes at the Maiquetia Airport in Caracas…Just imagine for a second that it has a jet engine and you race several of them against each other…forget F1!

Heladerooooo!

In Caracas you can still find walking ice cream vendors. There are two mayor brands of ice cream there and each plays their own theme song, so you know when your favorite is in the neighborhood.

In Venezuela, sometimes you can’t complain through regular channels…so creativity comes into play to get some attention. This car was driving around with what translates as: The British Council Ripped Me Off!

This is the southward view of Caracas from my mom’s new apartment…very nice…On the north it is even better because there is a huge mountain (the Avila), which I’ll post later.

Fever Dreams

Continuing in the vein of “painters of the weird I’d love to own” is Ray Caesar. Dark mystery surrounds the surreal. An interesting thing is that the paintings are entirely digital…
