Get The Fitts

So you think you are an interaction designer? Not if you cannot answer all the following questions quickly and with authority…I thought interaction design was something that I would know…pahhhhhhhhhh…wrong answer! Now this is very, very fun.

Icon Gathering

Ro London has collected an amazing 300 images from 1800 websites. Think arrows, mail envelopes, shopping carts, bullets. You can see different takes on these popular symbols…by the way, I need to make some icons myself!

Out of Sight

One of the best things of living in Milano is that there are little treasures hidden throughout the city. Most nice buildings have sumptous gardens that are off limits to everyone else. Today, while going to see an exhibition, Juanco and I found this at the end of a beautiful courtyard. We were told that in the summer they do theatre pieces here!

Color Strokes

Melting War

In the “why didn’t I think of this before “department is Mosley meets Wilcox’s soldier fruit bowl. Made by melting the figures in a bowl, the resulting shape is nothing short of wonderful. The ghost table is also worth checking out. Visit the site, I can’t deep link the objects…

Calculating Tracks

The Turing machine is an abstract model of computer that can calculate anything that is calculable if given enough time and an infinite tape. The Turin Train Terminal is a Turing Machine made with model trains and railroad tracks.

An interesting side note: Alan Turing was a key person in breaking the Enigma Cipher…he was also the inventor of the Turing Test. It is said that when a machine will pass this test, it will be as intelligent as a human being. Alan Turing committed suicide with a cyanide laced apple after being persecuted as a homosexual…

It Can Happen

What does landing a plane, fending off a shark, escaping from a sinking car, jumping from a moving train, surviving if your credit card is declined, and opening a bottle with a broken cork have in common? They are all explained in the Worst Case Scenario, with easy to follow instructions. When you are as paranoid as me you’d like to be prepared for anything! By the way…I own three of their books ;)

The Real Deal

Less Than Zero

One of the most amazing things in Rome is that everywhere they dig, they find something. This is the underground garage of the hotel we were staying at. Right between the parked cars (thats mine by the way) you can see roman walls and intricate constructions. Way cool.

Who’s Got the Acid?

A DEA bust, the death of Jerry Garcia, and changing tastes in psychedelics are all part of Ryan Grim’s extremely curious article for Slate about the decrease in LSD consumption…

Flying Circus

I bet once you see this your fear of flying will multiply ten-fold. Airport Monitor allows you to see real-time updates of where aircraft are at any given moment near an airport. Just give Los Angeles Intl. or the JFK a little look!
