Here is a panoramic picture I took last week at Val di Lei in Madesimo at an altitude of about 3000 mts. The mountains in the foreground are in Italy…the ones in the back Switzerland. Click for Hi Res

Black boxes, gray boxes, it’s all the same now for TV’s. Remember the old Telstars? Well they are still making them with modern technology on the insides. Predicta offers several models with their renowned 50’s style. Throw away that clunky box and get a real TV!

The U.S. National Library of Medicine has put together Dream Anatomy a website dedicated to showing how anatomy drawings have changed over the centuries. Beautiful, rich, and with amazing detail, these images are a pleasure to see. Of special interest is Man as Industrial Palace.

Ethylic Difficulties

2003.12.18

Opening a door with a key while being drunk is probably one of the hardest adventures embarked by man. This (Finnish?) website has just that…insert the key while raising the blood alcohol level. I have to say that the animation is very lifelike. I think I am going to throw up!

Hip to be Square

2003.12.18

Some 2200 years ago Archimedes invented 14-piece dissection puzzle similar to tangrams. It is called the Loculus, Stomachion, or Archimedes’ Box. The object is to rearrange the pieces to form a square. In November of 2003 Bill Cutler used a computer program to find the 536 distinct solutions. If only Archimedes had been around to see this!

Its been 100 years…

It wasn’t enough building a wooden Ferrari F50. They also had to turn into a boat. Only in Italy…

Birgit from Designboom put together some very nice words about free content, information, and how it relates to sustaining their awesome design website.

Light Waves

Eldarinn has created LedLounge, seven lamps designed with LED technology in mind. Lots of companies have produced LED lamps, but most are just regular archetypes in which Light Emitting Diodes have been added without taking advantage of it’s different capabilities. In this collection you can see a conscious effort put into creating new typologies or redefining existing ones. They are not for sale at the moment; they are concepts, with a clear eye towards production. Note to Manufacturers: Why don’t you make Tal a check so he can produce them!

Malabarismos

If the Internet had been around while I was in school, I would’ve never ever graduated. Take Pentrix for example, an excellent website dedicated to the art of pen spinning. Imagine for a second being able to have all this info for classroom boredom at my fingertips…..
MR BUSTILLOS!!! Why don’t you come and solve the equation on the blackboard!!!! click click…(hear the pen drop)…

Explosive Creation

2003.12.12

Pleix has put together one of best videos I’ve seen lately…”Sometimes” with music by Kid 606. The combination is pure dynamite. Stunning. By the way I was just reading Kid 606’s Bio and he was born in Caracas, Venezuela…That makes me very happy indeed. Be sure to check-out his music…cutting edge laptop sounds, ohh and don’t forget to see the other videos from Pleix!

The Answer to The Question

2003.12.11

Kurt Gödel stunned the math world in 1931 with his “incompleteness theorem”. It proved that mathematics or any formal system turn out to be incomplete because they are able to express statements that say of themselves that they are unprovable. Wheeeewww…and you think that is difficult? Why don’t you take a look at his Proof of God. This man had no fear for the hardest questions!
